It is important to monitor eye health in conjunction with many systemic disorders. Diseases including diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol and thyroid dysfunction can all cause damage to the eyes. It is very important to have regular eye health exams to help manage these conditions. In addition, as the population ages, conditions such as cataracts, age related macular degeneration and glaucoma are becoming more common. All of our doctors are trained to detect these conditions, and we obtain the most accurate results possible by using state of the art instrumentation. We are fortunate to have Dr. Marcus Appy, who is the only optometrist licensed to treat glaucoma on the north coast.
