Community Service

Day of Service 2011
Partnering with the Eureka Host Lions Club we were able to provide eye health exams and glasses to eleven community members in need. We hope to continue this partnership, and provide this eye health exams and other services to our community in the future. Many thanks to Lions Club Sight First program for their continued support for vision care world wide.

Each year we award two graduating high school seniors the A to Z Eye Care Health Career Scholarship. This year we are happy to award our scholarship to Morgan Bass and Kaila Johnson. We wish them both great success in achieving their educational goals in the health care field!

Humboldt Tri-Kids Triathlon
Dr Azevedo helped start this Humboldt County tradition over 20 years ago and we continue to be supporters and sponsors!
The Tri-Kids Triathlon is for kids ages 7 - 18. Participants swim, bike and run their way to the finish line having fun and making friends along the way.
Visit their website for more information Trikids.com

Perilous Plunge for the Discovery Museum
We had a blast this year as sponsors and participents in the 2011 Perilous Plunge for the Eureka Discovery Museum. The staff had a lot of fun designing
Dr Appy's eyeball costume and even more fun watching him jump into the bay wearing it!

Pastels on the Plaza 2010
Pastels on the Plaza was a huge success. This 23rd year of Pastels on the Plaza, a benefit for Northcoast Children's Services, 209 pastels were created. Over $20,000 was donated to benefit children's programs in Humboldt and Del-Norte Counties. They serve over 1,000 young children and their families.
We would like to thank our staff members Rebecca Birks, Elizabeth Knaus, Nicki Leonardo and Markel Hoffman for donating their time to such a worthy cause.

Project Homeless Connect Phoropter Donation
"At A to Z Eye Care we have been fortunate to work with many wonderful organizations aimed at helping the community. Most recent was the donation of optical examination instruments to Project Homeless Connect.
Since inception in October of 2004, Project Homeless Connect has helped close to 30,000 homeless clients, providing access to needed care and services. For further questions about how you can help, please contact Judith Klain, Executive Director of PHC at 415-503-2123.
